WFMW ~ Challenging Changes
Aug

Lately, Tiny Tank has begun rolling while he is being changed. I can't use our change table due to the fact that in one quick swoosh he will be on the floor three feet down from where he started (and yes this is even with him strapped in!)
I have begun changing him on the floor but I still find it takes great skill and patience to hold down a squirming infant, wipe a bum and manage not to get poop all over me! I have had many people suggest various methods of entrapment where you change him squished against a wall (so he can't roll), give him a toy to hold onto for distraction, and yes someone has even suggested sitting on him!
I was a little squeamish about the whole "plunk my large butt on my small child's chest" technique so I came up with something that seems to be working for me. I place Tiny Tank on the ground in between my legs with his bum pointed towards me. I then place one ankle on each of his stretched out arms, thus he can't roll and I can have both hands free to efficiently change his smelly bum.
My theory is, that until women start growing a third arm when they are pregnant to help with all the tasks that require an extra hand, this unconventional diaper change technique has become a WFM method...

That's hilarious! My nine month old is getting really squirmy for changes too. Haven't tried that! :)
It works really well! :) Try it and let me know if it works for you too!
